Machinations is more or less half way across Wales (A 458) and half way from north to south on the A 470.
If you go due south on the mountain road (B4518) you pass the top of the beautiful Pennant valley and falls, before carrying on to Machynlleth past vistas over half mid Wales as far as Cadair Idris.
Or you can take the equally spectacular route past the Clywedog resevoir and dams to Llanidloes.
We are also 100 metres from the Glyndwr Way - described by a group of walkers stopping here as one of the best routes in the whole of Europe.

There are good local routes for cyclists and the Hafren forest with many other routes is only 10 miles away.
Llanbrynmair is the biggest parish in the UK and includes many pretty hamlets off the main road against the backdrop of mountain scenery.
